Roland Drummond, Associate Pastor

Greetings!

Thank you for allowing me to share a little bit about myself and my family.

The Drummond Family: (in front) Jesse; (Left to right) Sarah, Lori, Rachel; (back row L to R)  Daniel, Roland and David.

I was born July 28, 1961 in Baltimore, Maryland, the first of five children born to Keith and Catherine Drummond. On March 16, 1980 I was blessed to meet my future wife Lori (Petrie). We were married on May 16, 1981.

Lori was born in Niagara Falls, NY on October 8th (you know I can’t tell you what year!), but moved to Virginia when she was 2, and shortly thereafter moved to Rockville, Maryland, where she was living when I met her. We lived in Maryland until July of 1995 when I was transferred to Michigan; my family followed in December. Lori and I have five children, and their names are David, Daniel, Rachel, Sarah, and Jesse - the only one of our children born in Michigan (on St. Patrick’s Day, 1998). We lived in Davison for a few months, but now make our home in Linden.

Since my late teens I had believed that I was called to some type of ministry, but never knew what direction that call would take or really how to answer that call. There was never an extended period in my life when I wasn’t involved in church in some way. As a young man I occasionally taught Sunday school and was involved in community visitation. In the late 1980’s I served in a church plant in Maryland as head greeter and usher and on the pastoral care team. It was during this time that I really began to get involved in visitation and evangelism. In the early 1990’s, I took some courses from Liberty University and had studied at Washington Bible College and Seminary. Then, in 1996, I was involved in a head-on collision that would forever change my life.

With ruptured discs in my back, I was put on total temporary disability, and this afforded me the time to reflect on my life. Lori returned to work as I healed, and she helped me to see that I had been given the opportunity (yes, the "accident" was now an “opportunity.” Isn’t God great!) to either “find just another job” or to answer the call of God on my life. What an inspiration she has always been!

I prayed and asked God to show me not only where I should study, but also how we could afford it. College is not cheap, but I had learned turning a 'deaf ear' to God can be very expensive! In short order my prayers and questions were answered. I enrolled in Bethany Divinity College and Seminary (www.BethanyBC.edu) and began my studies in Ministry Theology. It hasn’t always been easy, but the rewards of being faithful have been many. I have a heart for evangelism and a very real desire to present the Gospel and to show the Love of Jesus at every opportunity. I graduated from Bethany summa cum laude with a degree in Ministry and at present am studying for my certificate of Biblical counseling at Light University.

You will noticed that I am wearing a kilt in the picture to the right. There is an interesting progression and story behind it....

I began to lift weights to get back into some sort of shape as I healed from my accident. The more I exercised, the better I felt. Then, almost completely healed, (and with Scottish ancestry calling), I ventured into Highland Games! Now I regularly compete in the “Master’s” division.

Lori, I and our whole family are so excited to be a part of Grace Community Christian Fellowship. For us, Grace is an answer to prayer! We look forward to Growing in Grace, Faith and in Service, as well as continuing to develop 'eternity' long relationships; but most importantly, to bring honor to God in all that we do at Grace . We are hoping that you will join with us and see just why Grace Community Christian Fellowshipis indeed "A Place to Love God, Love People, Serve in Community."
